I have the honour to inform Your coellency that a com**
mini on ti on has been received from the Ministry of Cormani sa ti ona
to the following effect.
The Ministry are in receipt of a telegram from the
newly-appointed Head of the Telegraph office at Hong Kong.
Mr. Ju Chib-yun, á ated the 5th instant stating that, having
received instructions to take over charge of the Hong Kong
Telegraph office, he had repeatedly
approached the Colonial authorities for the purpose, but
that the latter wore still opposing bis taking over, while
the former incumbent of the noat, Chiang Yu-lu, was in hiding
with the idea of rafusing to hand over the office.
Iz requested that

Maister through the Tai Chise Fu. The anniatry would point
out that the former Head of the office in question, ar.
Chiang Yu-lu, has leng sincs been replaced but has not so
fax handed over charge, and that his receiving of dewo-
tenance from the Colonial authorities would appear to be a
fast. The Wai Chimo Pu are accordingly requested to write
to the British Minister and sɛk him to telegraph to the
Governor of Hong Kng and move His Excellmay to assist
the telegraph serice by according facilities for kr. Ia
Chih-yun, the new appointee to the Telegraph uffice, and pla
no obetsole in his way, so that he may be able to assuAINM
office at an early date.
